Kathryn Mattox Jenkines joins our team as Latexo Elementary School Principal.  Ms. Jenkines is from Houston County and graduated from Crockett High School.  She is excited to return to Houston County to serve the students at Latexo Elementary School.  Her career working with children has been broad, including working in child welfare for several years before becoming an educator.  For the past 12 years, Ms. Jenkines has served the community of Madisonville in various roles at Madisonville Intermediate School.  She is bringing her passion for children and her vision of high academic expectations for every student with her to create a high performing team that will produce lifelong learners.
Ms. Jenkines looks forward to sharing her motto "Whatever it takes, our kids are worth it!"

Here at Latexo Elementary School, we are honored to serve the educational needs of your children and look forward to becoming acquainted with all of our parents throughout the school year. We are committed to provide every student with the highest quality education through academic excellence, as well as the social enrichment and emotional support for all of our students.

Our focus is on student learning and providing a cohesive standards-based education as well as building strong character in our student body. LES is privileged to have a wonderful and supportive P.T.O. and we welcome volunteers at school activities, including our G.I.V.E. Program, Sporting Events, Academic Events, and Open House. If you are interested in volunteering, please call our office and we will be glad to send a form for you to fill out and return.

One of the most frustrating problems in today's classrooms is tardiness. Some teachers report that the first four to eight minutes of class is almost a waste of time as students straggle in, disrupting instruction.
